Racial Barriers to Waver

  • “Eulalia – what are you doing here! You love a black man? He suits your warts! (By the way, it was also meant to indicate that many white girls love chocolates)” The postcard shows the resentment of racial attitudes towards Blacks which dominated in the early 20th Century, – but it also indirectly proves that the racial barriers were not insurmountable, but, anyhow, interpersonal contacts could always exist.
